Puretec Industrial Water Acquires Layne Christensen DI Service Business in Arizona

Posted on March 29, 2013

Puretec Industrial Water, an industry leader in industrial water treatment solutions, today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Layne Christensen’s Arizona based DI water purification and water system maintenance services. Layne Christensen is a publicly held company listed on the NASDAQ exchange and focuses on providing drilling services and related products and services in four principal markets: water resources, mineral exploration, geo-construction services and energy services and production. Layne Christensen’s customers include municipalities, industrial companies, mining companies, oil and gas companies and consulting and engineering firms located principally in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Africa and South America.

Puretec Industrial Water is currently building a state of the art ion exchange regeneration and equipment fabrication facility in Gilbert, Arizona and this acquisition will help build upon Puretec’s existing service offering in Arizona and the Southwest, providing deionization, reverse osmosis systems and service for a host of industrial and commercial water treatment needs.

Puretec’s acquisition of Layne Christensen in Arizona is effective April 1, 2013.

The combination of Puretec’s strong existing customer base in the power, utility, and manufacturing arena with Layne Christensen’s proven track record will be a boost to Puretec’s overall service offering.

“When asked how we are different from Layne Christensen and other DI service providers, or what it is that we can provide that others can’t, our answer is always the same. Puretec provides excellent personalized service that is hard to match” said Jim Harris, President of Puretec. “Being a privately held family owned business for over 4 generations has allowed us to focus on the customer and not the shareholder. The result has been strong customer satisfaction and double digit growth”.

Hiring Qualified Candidates for Water Treatment Jobs – Webinar Tomorrow!

Posted on August 8, 2012

This email is an announcement of a free webinar I and others at David H. Paul, Inc. (DHP) will present on August 9 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time (10 a.m. Pacific Time) to discuss your water treatment personnel needs through the end of 2013 and to provide information on DHP’s “pre-hire” training programs and available qualified graduates.

Almost every service, installation and O & M company we deal with around the world talks about how difficult it is to find and hire qualified personnel. DHP has two programs to train “pre-hires” to prepare them to enter the field. We train them so you can hire them and provide only the on-the-job training needed for company-specific activities. Our graduates know the basics and have hands-on experience.

If you plan to hire one or more people between now and the end of 2013, and you want your new-hires to be pre-trained and certified, please attend this webinar. It will be interactive, providing information on DHP’s current programs and seeking your input on any other special training you want your new-hires to have.

Please register for this free webinar at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/450469888

Puretec Industrial Water and Global Water Bring Clean Water to Sierra Leone

Posted on May 25, 2012

OXNARD, California (May 8, 2012) – Oxnard based water treatment company, Puretec Industrial Water and Global Water, an international humanitarian organization, partnered to drill a well and bring clean water to the Serabu Village in Sierra Leone, western Africa.

global-water

Right now, over a billion people on the planet drink unsafe water, affecting one in six of us.  Puretec Industrial Water and Global Water have collaborated together for many years supporting water and sanitation projects in developing countries throughout the world.  Their most recent initiative involved drilling a well in the southern region of Sierra Leone for the people of Serabu.  By providing a new, safe water supply, this well has had a life changing impact on 1,000 community members that live in the surrounding area.  The well not only provides a protected source of clean water, but also alleviates the daily burden for women and small children to walk in search of water for their family. This chore is intensely laborious, requiring long hours to carry a heavy container in addition to being vulnerable to assault by men and animals.

Sierra Leone has been considered by the UN one of the world’s “least livable” countries because of poverty and poor quality of life.  Something as simple as getting clean drinking water is a huge problem there, heavily affecting rural parts of the country.  According to data compiled by the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Program, 65% of the rural population of Sierra Leone do not have access to a safe water source, instead relying on contaminated surface water.

Puretec owner, Jed Harris, understands the fundamental importance of safe water and effective sanitation in preventing disease, alleviating hunger and allowing individuals and communities to emerge from poverty.  By working with Global Water, his company has been able to spread awareness of water problems in developing countries as well as work towards real solutions.

Together, these two local groups are changing the world, one village at a time.  For more information on Global Water, visit GlobalWater.org
