photograph of a beverage bottling plantFaced with the need to significantly increase their pure water production capacity, a beverage plant partnered with Puretec Industrial Water to achieve a rapid pure water system expansion from 100 gallons per minute (gpm) to 350 gpm. By coordinating with a qualified mechanical contractor and employing innovative mobile deionization trailers, Puretec completed the complex upgrade within 45 days, ensuring uninterrupted production and enhanced water purity.

The Challenge: Expanding Pure Water Production for Increased Capacity

A beverage plant aimed to expand its production, necessitating an increase in its pure water system capacity from 100 gpm to 350 gpm. However, the existing Service Deionization (SDI) system was insufficient for the new production requirements. The upgrade required not only enhanced pumping, filtration, and UV equipment but also the installation of new plant piping, which meant sourcing and managing a qualified mechanical contractor. Compounding the challenge, the entire project needed to be completed within 45 days with minimal disruption to the plant’s ongoing production schedule.

The Solution: Coordinating an Efficient System Upgrade and Contractor Management

Puretec Industrial Water collaborated closely with the client to clearly define the project scope and then identified a qualified mechanical contractor to manage the critical piping installation. Puretec developed a detailed project schedule to ensure the upgrade would be completed on time. The solution involved a rapid pure water system expansion, upgrading the plant’s piping from 3” to 6”, installing new distribution pumps, filter housings, and a large UV disinfection system. To maintain continuous pure water production during the upgrade, Puretec deployed two Mobile Deionization (MODI) trailers equipped with remote control panels. These trailers operated in sequence, with one coming online as the other reached exhaustion, ensuring uninterrupted service. System notifications alerted the client and Puretec when a trailer exchange was required.

Satisfaction Achieved: On-Time Completion with Continuous Operation

Effective communication was central to the project’s success. Weekly meetings, video conferences, and ongoing discussions between the client, Puretec, and the mechanical contractor ensured the project met all benchmarks and stayed on track. The MODI trailers, featuring Water Linx remote monitoring service, enabled comprehensive tracking of trailer operations and a rapid response to any issues or exchange needs. The Water Linx dashboards provided real-time water quality and system status monitoring, offering the client peace of mind. Ultimately, Puretec completed the project on scope and on time, with minimal interruption to the plant’s production schedule, delivering a significantly enhanced pure water system.
